Argelès, a vibrant resort town in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon

Argelès-sur-Mer, nestled between the mountains and the sea, is a lively, attractive resort town from the first day of the season to the last. From Easter to the end of September, there is an exciting schedule of activities for everyone. Stroll down the streets of Argelès-sur-Mer

The seaside town of Argelès-sur-Mer has beautiful nature preserves, including its coastline. The town has limited access to the coastline to pedestrians only for many years. You will love strolling along the beach, especially in the morning just after the sun rises over the Mediterranean. After a coffee out on the patio at one of the many cafés, head down the narrow streets for a mother-daughter morning of shopping on Allée des Pins! Don’t wait until the end of your trip to find the right swimsuit, sundress or quintessential straw hat for lounging by the pool. Argelès-sur-Mer cultivates the good life and knows how to host tourists. You can also enjoy a refreshing morning swim in the sea. Only connoisseurs of the large Argelès-sur-Mer beach come out to swim in the morning.

Enjoy the sun during your trip to Argelès-sur-Mer

There’s no holiday without sunshine! Right? In Argelès sur Mer, you are guaranteed to catch some rays because this is the southernmost seaside town in mainland France, with 300 days of sunlight per year. And yes! Holidays are precious enough not to take any chances. In Argelès-sur-Mer, the sun is not an option. It’s always out! And we all need to fully enjoy our holidays in the great outdoors, with unlimited beach time, activities, small markets and long nights…

Come experience a holiday the Mediterranean way with your holiday rental at our Les Marsouins campsite in Argelès-sur-Mer!

When you choose Argelès, you spend a holiday between the Mediterranean Sea and Pyrénées Mountains

You don’t want to have to choose between swimming and hiking, the sea and the mountains, large beaches and small coves?

Well, you have made the right choice to come stay at our Les Marsouins campsite in Argelès-sur-Mer.

Here, you will be at the foot of the Albera Massif, 1157 m high and on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea where you can enjoy beautiful beaches or small, pristine coves. You can also explore the traditional Catalan market in Argelès-sur-Mer during your morning walk down the narrow streets.

After the beach or a gorgeous hike, enjoy the view and have a drink by the marina before heading back to your mobile home at Les Marsouins.

Both a famous resort town in the Pyrénées-Orientales and a historic city, Argelès-sur-Mer is a top tourist destination with a rich cultural and architectural heritage. Once a strategic site on the border of the Kingdom of France and the Kingdom of Majorca, the remains of the ancient ramparts have been preserved, as well as a fortified church dominated by one of the highest bell towers in the region and a watchtower on the Albera Massif, La Massane Tower. Built in the 13th century at an altitude of 800 m, it was part of a network of watchtowers designed to defend the Kingdom of Majorca.

Discover the Catalan culture of Argelès through its many walking routes

Don’t miss Valmy Castle, built at the end of the 19th century in the Belle Époque style. Its elegant silhouette overlooks Valmy municipal park, a green haven open to the public. The whole family can enjoy the educational botanical garden. From the park, a path takes you to La Massane Tower where you can enjoy an exceptional view of the Vermeille Coast.

Explore the heritage of Catalan culture in Argelès through numerous events, some held annually: the unmissable carnivals, feasts of Saint John and folk festivals with demonstrations of the traditional dances castells and sardana and presentations of Catalan diads, flat-bottomed boats used for fishing sardines and anchovies. Life is good in Catalan country, you’ll see! The event schedule is available on the Argelès-sur-Mer Tourist Office website:
